A man is recovering from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash that briefly shut down the Gardiner Expressway's eastbound lanes.

Toronto police said the male driver lost control of his motorcycle for unknown reasons and crashed.

The incident occurred in the Gardiner's eastbound lanes at Jarvis Street shortly before 2 a.m.

As a precaution, police temporarily closed the lanes at Bay Street.

The man was rushed to hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

It's not known if any charges will be laid.
