Two people stabbed in Barrie

UPDATE: One person has been taken into police custody after two people in their 20s were stabbed in downtown Barrie Friday afternoon.

Barrie police are currently examining three crime scenes.

Man struck by vehicle in city's north end

UPDATE: A man believed to be in his 40s has been taken to hospital after he was struck by a vehicle in the city's north end Friday afternoon.

Initial reports said the man was struck just before 5 p.m. on Steeles Avenue West just east of Weston Road.

Toronto police said the man's injuries are non-life-threatening.

The area is currently shut down as police investigate.

Two taken to hospital after motorcycle accident

Two people have been transported to hospital following a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon.

Toronto EMS said the motorcycle lost control on Highway 427's northbound ramp to westbound Highway 401.

The motorcycle may have struck a truck.

Both passengers have been transported to hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The ramp has reopened after a short closure.

Man facing seven charges after home invasion

A man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed by an intruder inside his home early Friday.

Police say three armed men forcibly entered an apartment near Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street around 1 a.m. and subsequently asked a male and female resident to hand over cash and other valuables.

When the man attempted to fight off the attackers, he was cut in his chest, face, arms and legs.

The attackers then fled, but police were able to apprehend one of the suspects in the immediate area.

Abdifatah Mohammed Okash, 28, is charged with robbery, disguise with intent, aggravated assault, weapons dangerous, possession of property obtained by crime, fail to comply with probation and unlawfully in a dwelling.

He made his first court appearance Friday.

The two other suspects are still outstanding.

Both are believed to be in their early 20s.

One is described as having a light-black complexion with braided hair. He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt and dark-coloured shorts with a brace on his right arm.

The other suspect is described as black with a shaved head and chubby build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark baggy jeans.

Police investigate shooting

Toronto police are looking for suspects after gunshots were fired near Jane Street and Finch Avenue late Thursday night.

Several people called 911 to report "the sound of gunshots" near a townhouse complex at about 11:30 p.m.

Shell casings were found near Needle Fir Way, but no one was present at the scene when officers arrived.

No injuries have been reported and no witnesses have been located.

Police locate missing girl

Toronto police have located a 12-year-old girl who was reported missing earlier this week.

Alicia Anwhatin was found safe Thursday afternoon after her disappearance was publicized, police said Friday.

She was last seen Wednesday at the Cineplex Odeon Queensway theatre in Etobicoke, police said previously.
