Two female pedestrians have been taken to hospital after they were struck by a van on Don Mills Road early Wednesday evening, according to Toronto police.

Police said the pedestrians, believed to be in their 20s, were struck while attempting to cross to the west side of Don Mills Road.

One pedestrian was pinned under the van and sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both were transported to hospital.

Southbound lanes on Don Mills Road south of Eglinton Avenue were closed to Overlea Boulevard as police investigated.

The lanes reopened shortly after 10 p.m.
