Bollywood is about to take over Toronto.

The 12th annual International Indian Film Academy awards will be held in the city from June 23 to June 25.

Known by many as the Bollywood Oscars, the awards are part of a three-day celebration of South Asian film.

There will also be a film festival, several charity events and a musical concert at Ricoh Coliseum.

The awards themselves are given out on June 25 at the Rogers Centre.

Overall, the weekend is expected to draw 40,000 visitors to the city.

About 500 of the biggest names in Bollywood will attend.

It's the first time the IIFA awards are being held in North America.

Founded in 2000, the awards have been held in Sri Lanka, Macau, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia and the Netherlands.

Although tickets to the awards show have been sold out for months, there are still plenty of ways you can take in the event.
