Toronto police have released security camera photographs of a suspect wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a taxi driver early Tuesday morning.

According to police, a Diamond Taxi driver picked up a man in the Parliament and Winchester streets area shortly after midnight.

The man asked the driver to take him to the rear of an apartment building located on River Street, south of Gerrard Street East.

Upon arrival, police say the man pulled out a kitchen knife and held it to the driver’s throat while demanding cash, his wallet and cellphone.

The driver complied and the suspect fled the cab on foot walking north on River Street.

He is described as having a brown complexion, approximately 35 years old and five-foot-seven to five-foot-eight.
