The strike deadline for employees at the Art Gallery of Ontario has been pushed back until noon as negotiations continue.

Members of OPSEU complain that full-time jobs are being replaced by part-time work. The two sides remain at the bargaining table in a last-ditch effort to strike a deal.

Vice president of Local 535 Paula Whitmore says they want full time employees to retain their jobs and part-timers to be a dedicated group of members at work.

The AGO released a statement to CP24 saying the following:

"Negotiations are continuing and we are working hard to avoid a labour dispute, which would not be helpful to the institution, the community or our employees. While it is our intent to remain open during any work stoppage, we hope that all parties recognize that the impact on the AGO would be serious and long-lasting, and that this will undermine our ability to continue to grow our institution."
