A Mississauga man is facing several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault, after allegedly shooting another person during a “neighbour dispute.”

The incident happened on Jan. 24 near Rathburn Road West and Perivale Road, just south of Highway 403 and west of Mavis Road.

Peel Regional Police (PRP) said they were called to that area at around 10 a.m.

According to police, two people got into a verbal altercation that resulted in one of them being shot.

The victim was taken to a trauma centre and is expected to make a full recovery, they said.

The following day, on Jan. 25, PRP said they executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and seized “numerous firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and other weapons.”

Richard Loo, 62, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with 10 offences. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at a Brampton court.

Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to PRP’s 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
