Suspect sought in attempted robbery at downtown Toronto store

Toronto police are searching for a woman who allegedly assaulted an employee during an attempted robbery downtown on Wednesday afternoon.

Toronto police are searching for a suspect who allegedly assaulted an employee during an attempted robbery downtown on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect entered a store near the Yonge Street and Wellesley Street area and allegedly tried to steal several items.

When staff members confronted her, the suspect allegedly sprayed a noxious substance towards them.

Police said the suspect also assaulted one staff before fleeing the store.

On Friday, investigators released images of the female suspect, who is described as between 20 and 30 years old with a medium build and long straight black hair.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket, pink top, beige pants, white shoes and carrying a beige tote bag.
