TORONTO - A man charged with first-degree murder in a daylight shooting in Toronto's Little Italy will appear in court again next month.

John Raposo, 35, was shot in the head and killed on June 18 while dozens of soccer fans gathered at the gelato shop to watch a soccer game.

A second man was injured in the gunfire, which came weeks after a public shooting in the food court of the Eaton Centre shopping mall killed two people.

Dean Wiwchar, 26, charged with first-degree murder in Raposo's death, appeared briefly in court by video Friday and is set to make his next appearance Aug. 14.

His lawyer has said he will plead not guilty.
