Toronto police are investigating a crash that shut down a stretch of Finch Avenue West for a few hours early Thursday morning.

Police said Finch Avenue was shut down between Wilmington Avenue and Goldfinch Court, just west of Bathurst Street, after a car crashed into a bus shelter and a hydro pole.

The driver abandoned the car after the single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m.

A short time later, the suspect was taken to North York General Hospital - reportedly by a friend - and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police told CP24.

The road was closed for an investigation and to allow Toronto Hydro crews to repair the pole.
