Toronto police have released images of a vehicle wanted in connection with a hit-and-run in Scarborough on Monday morning.

It happened at around 8:15 a.m. near Aragon Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East.

According to police, a 76-year-old man was attempting to cross Aragon Avenue on the south side of Sheppard Avenue East when a vehicle, identified as a dark-coloured pickup truck, struck the pedestrian.

Police say the driver of the vehicle initially stopped but later left the scene.

The elderly victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"We’ve now located additional cameras in the area, high quality video, so that information is being given to us. We’ve had additional witnesses give us more information as to what happened immediately after the collision, people that weren’t here yesterday when investigators arrived," Const. Clint Stibbe told CP24 at the scene Tuesday.

"The investigation is moving forward. We are still asking the public for their assistance if anybody has seen a vehicle with damage that may be fresh. We will give further information as to the type of vehicle as soon as we can make further determinations."

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
