One man is in hospital in serious but stable condition this morning after a shooting at a Domino’s Pizza in Brampton overnight.

It happened near Wexford Road and Hurontario Street at around 11:55 p.m.

Const. Mark Fischer told CP24 at the scene that the victim, who is a 24-year-old employee of the store, sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

“We are aware of good surveillance within this plaza and as to whether the video is good, we will have to look at that,” Fischer said.

“It is possible that it is a robbery incident that may have gone terribly awry however that is something that we will determine later on. Our robbery bureau is on scene investigating this incident.”

An area manager of the pizza shop told CP24 five people were working during a busy Friday night shift when two males walked into the restaurant and demanded money.

The majority of the cash in the store would have been kept in a safe, according to the manager.

The manager said it appears the suspects left in a panic as cash from the cash register was found scattered on the ground inside the store.

Police say two suspects, described by investigators as black males, were seen fleeing the area at the time of the shooting.

The first suspect was reportedly wearing dark jeans and a white T-shirt. The second suspect, police say, had a heavy build and was wearing dark clothing.
