The Canadian Food inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume a mango product that may have been contaminated with Salmonella.

The agency says certain Ready Pac brand fresh cut Fruit Blends contain pieces of Daniella brand mangoes which were recalled by their U.S. manufacturer earlier this week after several confirmed cases of Salmonella poisoning in Canada and the U.S.

The recall affects packages of Fruit Tray Bien Fruit Blend and Super Fruit Medley Fruit Blend. While the products were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, the CFIA warned Sunday that they may also have been distributed in other provinces as well.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but can cause salmonellosis. Young children, the elderly and people with weak immune systems are particularly susceptible. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
