Jian Ghomeshi has hired criminal lawyer Marie Henein to deal with allegations from multiple women who say the embattled former CBC radio host assaulted, harassed and sexually assaulted them.

Henein, a partner at Henein Hutchison LLP, confirmed to CTV News in an email that she will be representing Ghomeshi.

In a bio on the law firm’s website, Henein is said to have worked on “numerous high profile cases.”

She defended former Ontario attorney-general Michael Bryant on criminal negligence charges relating to a 2009 incident that ended in the death of cyclist Darcy Allan Sheppard.

Criminal charges have not been laid against Ghomeshi but the Toronto Police Service’s sex crimes unit has launched an investigation into the allegations after three women, including ‘Trailer Park Boys’ actor Lucy DeCoutere, came forward.

The Toronto Star has published accounts from nine women who detailed alleged incidents where Ghomeshi violently assaulted them. On Tuesday, The Star also published a story from a former male York University student who says Ghomeshi “fondled” his genitals in an elevator in the 90s.

Ghomeshi has denied any wrongdoing and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
