A mass shooting that left two people dead on Danzig Street this summer has been connected to another homicide and multiple other shootings, Toronto police said Monday night.

Investigators said in a news release that the three murders were linked to six other shootings. When asked to clarify, they said that in total, nine incidents of gun violence that left three people dead are linked.

Homicide investigators said they believe the Galloway Boys street gang is responsible for the violence.

Police are scheduled to hold two news conferences Tuesday morning -- each one at the scene of a different homicide – in order to give the public better context when they explain the connection.

A teenage girl, 14-year-old Shyanne Charles and 23-year-old community volunteer Joshua Yasay, were killed when more than one person opened fire at a parking lot street party on Danzig Street on July 16.

Twenty-three other party-goers were shot during the gun fight. More than 100 people, including small children, were at the barbeque when the violence broke out. One woman was injured when she was trampled by the large crowd that was rushing to escape.

At least two people have been charged in connection with the Danzig Street shooting but neither of them have been charged with murder.

A murder that took place late last year is said to also be connected to a spate of violence in Scarborough.

D’Mitre Barnaby, 24, was found dead from gunshot wounds at a building at 3895 Lawrence Ave. E. at 11 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2011. At the time, investigators said Barnaby was targeted, though they didn’t release any information on possible suspects.

But police say the violence that started the deadly turn of events actually began on Sept. 4, 2011. The most recent shooting that is linked to the case took place on Aug. 10, 2012.

At the news conference Tuesday, Toronto police are expected to explain how the shootings and murders are linked and why they think the notorious Galloway Boys are involved.

The first news conference will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the rear parking lot of the Lawrence Avenue homicide scene. Shortly after it concludes, detectives will continue to update the media from the site of the mass shooting on Danzig Street.
