Toronto police have arrested and charged one man in connection with two recent bank robberies that took place in the Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue East area.

Police say a man walked into banks and demanded cash from tellers on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3. In both cases, police say the suspect handed the tellers a note telling them they were being robbed and indicating that he was carrying a handgun before making off with an unspecified amount of cash.

On Monday police arrested Ghandy Neira, 24, of no fixed address and charged him with two counts of robbery.

He was scheduled to make an appearance at the College Park Courts Tuesday morning.
