A pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a motorcycle in Toronto's east end Thursday morning.

Both the pedestrian and motorcyclist were taken to hospital after the collision occurred on Victoria Park Avenue near York Mills Road at about 7 a.m.

Toronto police traffic services Const. Clint Stibbe said the motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man, was northbound on Victoria Park Avenue when he struck a 47-year-old pedestrian.

Police closed Victoria Park Avenue between Highway 401 and York Mills Road for about four hours.

Thursday morning's crash was the second involving a motorcycle in less than eight hours.

Late Wednesday night, a male motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck at Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 400 in Vaughan.
