A man who was rushed to hospital following a shooting outside a Liberty Village bar early Sunday morning has succumbed to his injuries in hospital, police say.

The shooting took place at around 4 a.m. as the bar – located near Mowat Avenue and Liberty Street -- was letting out.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Kiesingar Gunn, sustained an injury to his head and was taken to a trauma centre via emergency run. Gunn was then pronounced dead just before midnight last night.

A family friend told CP24 Monday that Gunn was a devoted father of four who worked in manufacturing.

Police have said that they do not believe Gunn was the intended target of the shooting.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.

No information has been released about potential suspects at this point, though police do say that witnesses observed a vehicle fleeing the scene.
