A man and a woman are in a Toronto hospital after they were wounded in a shooting that got 2013 off to a violent start in Toronto.

The woman was in critical condition after the shooting, but her condition later stabilized, police said.

The shooting occurred in a parking lot off of Queens Quay, just east of Guvernment nightclub, at about 2 a.m.

After they were wounded, the victims drove themselves to St. Michael’s Hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.

A bullet-riddled car was parked outside the hospital, where it was surrounded by yellow police tape.

At least three bullet holes were visible in the windows on the driver's side, in addition to one in the front windshield.

According to a police officer at the scene of the shooting, at least five gunshots were fired at the victims.
