A free vaccination clinic is being held at the East York Civic Centre today after an employee at a Danforth Avenue juice bar tested positive for hepatitis A.

On Saturday, Toronto Public Health announced that a worker at The Big Carrot at 348 Danforth Avenue tested positive for the virus. According to the agency, anyone who consumed fresh juice at the establishment between March 17 and April 2, 2015 could have contracted the virus, though the risk is considered to be low.

“If you just had one juice your risk would be extremely low and even if you had a number of juices the risk is still probably very low, but just as a precaution we want people to look for signs and symptoms and get that vaccine,” Toronto Public Health spokesperson Dr. Rita Shahin told CP24 on Sunday.

Symptoms of hepatitis A can begin 15 to 50 days after becoming infected and include fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea/ vomiting, dark urine, stomach pains and jaundice. Officials say the vaccine for the virus is most effective if you receive it within 14 days of exposure.

Today’s vaccination clinic at the East York Civic Centre will take place between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
