I'm sure some of you could have guessed this, but now you know for sure, Palin is kicking Harper's butt in the political search space. Well, the Alaska Governor is kicking search butts left, right, and centre.

Yahoo Canada released some stats Tuesday revealing that on October 2nd, 2008, 50 per cent of election candidate searches went to Sarah Palin and only 11 percent went to Stephen Harper. And the list goes on.

Top-searched election candidate results on Yahoo.ca (October 2, 2008):

1. Sarah Palin 50% (up 2% on debate day)

2. Stephen Harper 11% (down 8% on debate day)

3. Joe Biden 8% (up 7% on debate day)

4. Barack Obama 7% (up 2% on debate day)

5. Jack Layton 7% (down 1% on debate day)

6. Elizabeth May 6% (unchanged on debate day)

7. Stephane Dion 5% (down 1% on debate day)

8. Gilles Duceppe 3% (up 2% on debate day)

9. John McCain 2% (down 1% on debate day)

Yahoo Canada also points out that searches for Tina Fey, Katie Couric, and Palin's beauty queen past are on the rise. Surprise, surprise.

While it might be disappointing to some voters that Canadians are so obsessed with the election south of the border, I did think it was encouraging that all five Canadian leaders made the cut on the list above.

And, just for fun, I did Yahoo.ca searches on some of the folks on the list to highlight any interesting links on the first page of search results. Again, Palin wins. Here's what I found.

Sarah Palin - Sarah Palin Pumpkins

Stephen Harper - What is Stephen Harper Reading?

Jack Layton - Common-Sense Gambler

Stephane Dion - Stephane Dion Says

Barack Obama - The Senator's Flickr Stream

Leave a comment if I'm missing any interesting search results (PG, of course), pumpkins and all. See you tomorrow.
