The owner of a dog that was allegedly dragged across a subway platform by the neck was reunited with his pet Saturday.

TTC riders say they watched in horror as a man dragged the 17-year-old German Shepherd off a bus and down the stairs to the platform at Coxwell station.

Police were called, and a man was arrested.

The dog, named Whisky, spent the night at the Humane Society before being reunited with its owner.

Police say the man under arrest is the owner's neighbour, who had offered to walk the dog.

He told officers he had just gone for a long walk and that the dog needed a tug because she was too tired to walk down the stairs.

Fernando Simo, 29,  faces a single charge of cruelty to animals.

He will appear in court next month.
