Driver stranded in Brampton watermain break

Several vehicles became partially submerged in water when a watermain break flooded a parking lot in Brampton early Tuesday morning.

The parking lot in the 2100 block of Steeles Avenue, near Torbram Road, became a small lake when a pipe burst at about 5 a.m.

The water was so high, one person became stranded in a sport utility vehicle in the middle of the lot. Water was up to the vehicle's rear bumper.

Police said the person in the sport utility vehicle wasn't in any danger.

Public works crews were called in to drain the water and fix the broken pipe.

The parking lot belongs to a multi-purpose commercial complex, which is home to several businesses.
