It's been a tame winter in southern Ontario - but on Monday that changed.

Between five and 10 centimetres of snow fell in Toronto on Monday, with the mercury hovering around zero degrees.

Flurries began to fall at about 2 p.m. By 3 p.m., drivers in some parts of the region were dealing with treacherous conditions. Some flights from Pearson International Airport were cancelled as a result of the snowy weather.

Drivers heading toward Hamilton and London are advised to take caution on the roads due to freezing rain in some areas.

Monday's snowfall and poor road conditions are preventing the 95 York Mills bus from taking its normal route, the TTC says.

The slippery conditions are preventing the bus from climbing a hill on its route so it has been diverted between Don Mills Road and York Mills station.

Tuesday's forecast is calling for showers and drizzle with a high of three degrees Celsius.
