SOCHI, Russia - Team Canada has defeated Norway 3-1 in its first game of the Olympic hockey tournament.

After a scoreless first period, Shea Weber got things going for Canada 6:20 into the second when his shot from the point beat Norway netminder Lars Haugen.

Jamie Benn and Drew Doughty also scored for Canada.

Patrick Thoresen scored for Norway

Carey Price made 19 saves in the Canadian net while Haugen was solid for Norway, stopping 35 shots.

Canada's next game is Friday against Austria.
