Toronto firefighters brought a two-alarm blaze in a high rise near Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue under control after flames and heavy smoke were seen shooting out of a unit on the 24th floor Monday afternoon.

Toronto Fire say they have knocked the fire down, but the extent of the damage is not yet known.

Const. Wendy Drummond says St. Clair Ave. was closed to traffic in both directions at Ferndale Avenue. Streetcar service was also affected.

Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries, fire officials say.

Fire officials also say the Fire Marshall's Office is investigating, but the blaze is believed to have started as a grease fire.
