An officer with the York Region Police has been charged following a Special Investigations Unit investigation.

The SIU was contacted on Feb. 1 by the York Regional Police regarding a complaint of a sexual nature against one of their officers in relation to an incident involving a 28-year-old woman.

The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 27 when the woman was arrested and then while en route to the police station in the officer's vehicle.

Const. Noor Khan faces one charge of sexual assault.

Noor will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on June 7.
