Arson is suspected in a two-alarm blaze at a Kensington Market home as well as a pair of nearby rubbish fires that flared up as crews worked to get the first fire under control.

The fire at the two-story residence on Kensington Avenue broke out at around 6:10 a.m. and took crews about an hour to knock down.

According to Capt. Mike Strapko, two tenants escaped without injury while a third tenant was rescued by firefighters from the second floor and then transported to hospital with minor smoke inhalation.

The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the property.

The other fires took place near the door of a building on Baldwin Street and in a clothing bin on Augusta Avenue at around 6:30 a.m.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
