Contract negotiations are set to resume today between the province and the union representing elementary school teachers in Ontario.

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) represents 76,000 public elementary school teachers in the province and has been in a legal strike position since May 10.

Education Minister Liz Sandals previously said she is “optimistic” the negotiations will lead to a new contract before the start of the school year.

Tentative agreements have already been reached between the province and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association.
