Halton Regional Police say they arrested a 48-year-old Toronto man Wednesday in connection with an identity theft investigation.

Police allege a man who used to work for GM Financial supplied personal information to counterfeiters. An investigation was launched two months ago after police arrested a number of people using fake identification.

The accused worked in the firm’s customer service department, police allege. GM Financial, formerly known as Financial Linx, assisted police in the investigation.

Moussa Kante is charged with one count of making identity information available for a fraudulent purpose.

Police advise any GM Financial customer who fears they have fallen victim to identity theft to wait for the firm to contact them.
