A male driver was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash in King City involving a gravel truck and another vehicle on Friday morning.

According to York Regional Police, the gravel truck and the other vehicle collided on King Road and Keele Street at around 10:30 a.m.

As a result of the crash, police say the other vehicle ended up wrapped around a hydro pole, trapping the driver.

The driver was then extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews and airlifted to hospital, police say.

King Road was been closed in the area of Keele Street as the Major Collision Investigation Unit probed the circumstances surrounding the accident but the roadway reopened at around 4:15 p.m.
