HAMILTON, Ont. -- A man who walked into a Hamilton mall carrying a paintball gun found himself on the receiving end of a high-risk takedown.
Police say they received numerous calls Sunday about a man dressed in black and carrying an assault rifle who was seen walking into Lime Ridge Mall.
A team of officers went to the mall where they quickly located the man.
Police say he was arrested without injury after the takedown and a paintball gun was seized.
They say the man did not point the paintball gun or threaten anyone, and he told officers he'd gone to the mall to shop before travelling to a paintball event.
The man was released unconditionally after a lengthy interview and police say there will be no criminal charges.
