York Regional Police are asking witnesses and possible victims to come forward after a 31-year-old man was charged with a number of child prostitution-related offences.

Police arrested the man after stopping a vehicle with an expired validation sticker near Highway 407 and Keele Street around 4:40 p.m. on Feb. 20.

After stopping the vehicle, police noticed a 15-year-old girl in the back seat who was found to not be related to the accused.

Police allege the man lured the girl to a nearby motel where he engaged in sexual activity with her and promised to pay her.

The pair had just left the motel when the vehicle was stopped because of the expired sticker, police say.

The girl was taken to a local hospital to be assessed and was then released to her family.

Police say Americo Magana, 31, of Vaughan is facing a number of charges, including: sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, luring a child, luring a child for prostitution, obtaining the sexual services of a person under 18, procuring to have illicit sexual intercourse and procuring to become a prostitute.

He made a court appearance Friday where he was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Police have released a photo of the accused and say they believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Drugs and Vice Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext.7817, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
