Toronto police are responding to numerous collisions across the city this morning due to icy roads and bridges.

A seven-car crash was reported in the area of Kingston Road and Highway 401 at around 6 a.m. and a head on crash was reported on the Bloor Street Viaduct over the DVP a short time later.

Police say officers were also responding to a three-car accident near Victoria Park Avenue and Belmore Avenue on Tuesday morning and one of the vehicles involved reportedly flipped over.

A collision near Lawrence Avenue and the Don Valley Parkway sent at least one person to hospital, police say.

Only minor injuries were reported after police say eight vehicles collided near Ellesmere Avenue and Morningside Avenue.

An icy bridge at St. Clair Avenue and Avoca Avenue was closed after two cars spun out and hit a guard rail.

Due to the number of collisions, police issued a public safety alert via Twitter, warning motorists of the slick conditions.

"Wet roads and cold air have caused some roads and bridges to form ice... drive with caution," the Toronto police tweet read.

To combat the icy conditions, staff with the City of Toronto's Winter Operations program said that one round of salt is being applied to bridge decks this morning.
