A 25-year-old man who was fatally shot in Malton in what is believed to be an isolated incident was a resident of Toronto, Peel Regional Police say.

Police identified the victim Monday as Dennis Alexander, who was gunned down at a home on Brandon Gate Drive, near Goreway Drive and Morning Star Drive, early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to a townhouse complex after shots rang out shortly after 2 a.m.

Alexander died of his injuries in hospital, police said in a news release.

Police said Alexander was in attendance at a large gathering at the complex when he was shot.

Neighbours told CP24 there was a loud party in one of the townhouses.

No one has been charged in Alexander’s death, and police are urging witnesses to contact investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

Alexander is Peel Region’s seventh homicide victim of 2012.
