ALLISTON, Ont. - Provincial police are looking at video surveillance as they investigate the weekend thefts of some Salvation Army donations in Alliston, northwest of Toronto.

It's alleged a man believed to be in his late 40s -- dressed in a replica Salvation Army uniform including a peak cap -- was seen removing a donation kettle and replacing it with an empty one.

After emptying the removed kettle, police say he moved on to a second location and repeated the actions.

The thefts were discovered when legitimate Salvation Army members arrived shortly afterwards to pick up donations.

They are unable to estimate the total value of the loss.

OPP are asking the public to be aware of anyone tampering with the donation kettles and to contact police if they notice any such incidents.
