TORONTO - Ryerson University president Sheldon Levy says he will be taking a new job at Queen's Park.

Levy says he will be joining the provincial government as deputy minister of training, colleges and universities as of Dec 1.

He says he will be taking a leadership role supporting the government's innovation agenda.

Levy has been Ryerson's president for the past decade.

He has overseen the rejuvenation of the university's campus in downtown Toronto that included the development of the former Maple Leaf Gardens as a new athletic centre and building a new student centre along Yonge St.

The university hasn't announced details about Levy's replacement.
