A 52-year-old man has been charged after allegedly exposing himself to two young girls at a park in Burlington late Tuesday afternoon.

According to Halton police, two girls – aged 11 and 12 – were walking a dog in Ireland Park when they noticed a man sitting on a bench watching them shortly before 5:30 p.m.

The girls were followed by the man as they walked to another area of the park. When they turned around, he was standing near them with his pants down, police said.

The man was followed and detained by a witness in the park following the act, and subsequently arrested by police when they arrived at the scene.

Douglas Scarborough, of Burlington, is charged with indecent exposure to a child less than 16 years of age.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Milton on Sept. 24.
