Toronto police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection with a reported sex assault that occurred aboard a downtown streetcar early Sunday morning.

The alleged assault took place along Queen Street at around 2:30 a.m.

According to police, the victim boarded the streetcar at John Street. Three stops later, a man boarded the vehicle and sexually assaulted the woman after sitting down beside her.

The victim was followed off the streetcar by the man after exiting at Broadview Avenue.

The man is described as Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, approximately five-foot-three, 115 pounds, with short black hair and a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, blue and white running shoes, and a black spring jacket. He was also wearing both a rosary and a silver necklace, police said.

In a statement sent to CP24 Monday afternoon, TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said that he was hopeful an arrest would be made soon in connection with the case.

“Everyone who uses public transit must feel safe and secure while riding the TTC,” he said.

“We work closely with police and provide assistance to investigators to make arrests for crimes committed against our riders or employees.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
