NEWMARKET, Ont. -- The Ministry of Labour says a Concord, Ont., company has been fined $50,000 after a worker was injured by a falling post.

The ministry says the incident happened in March 2014, when workers were dismantling and replacing a steel storage system for the company, Welded Tube of Canada, which produces carbon and steel tubes.

It says that a worker cut loose an upright post which had been welded to hollow steel tubes, which caused a number of other posts to move and fall.

It says a worker was struck and hurt by one of the fallen tubes.

The ministry says Welded Tube failed to "adequately brace" a temporary structure, contrary to the Workplace Health and Safety Act.

It says the worker has since returned to full-time work.
