After conducting a six-month investigation, York Regional Police arrested a man for allegedly selling counterfeit concert tickets online, authorities said Wednesday.

The York Regional Police Major Fraud Unit began their investigation in October 2013 after receiving numerous reports that fake concert and event tickets were being sold on online classifieds sites, says a York Regional Police news release.

Police warn citizens against sending cash, money transfers or money orders online. They say there is often no way to know a ticket is a fake until it is scanned at the venue.

Trust your instincts and do not carry out transactions with companies and individuals that you do not trust or are unfamiliar to you, say police.

A suspect, Jason Konstantos, 50, of the City of Vaughan, faces multiple charges including two counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of forgery and two counts of trafficking forged documents.
