Firefighter injured while battling blaze at home in Hamilton

A firefighter was transported to hospital early Thursday morning after suffering burns while battling a house fire in Hamilton.

A firefighter was transported to hospital early Thursday morning after suffering burns while battling a house fire in Hamilton.

The fire broke out at a home on Country Club Drive, near Greenhill Avenue and Quigly Road, at around 12:30 a.m.

Crews arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames, which had penetrated the roof.

A neigbouring home also caught fire.

The floors and roof of the residence of origin collapsed as a result of the fire and the damage is estimated to be nearly $2 million.

About 50 firefighters were on scene at the height of the blaze, including one who suffered burns and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
