York Regional Police say they are searching for suspect wanted in a robbery and carjacking in Vaughan over the weekend.
According to police, the robbery occurred in the area of Teston Road and Jane Street on Saturday at around midnight.
Police said the suspect had arranged to meet with a person who was selling a phone but during the exchange, the suspect stolen the phone and fled on foot.
“The victim attempted to give chase until the suspect discharged a firearm in the victim’s direction,” police said in a news release issued on Monday.
No injuries were reported.
A short time later, police said the suspect stole a Honda-CR-V that was parking in a driveway, threatening the owner with a firearm.
“The suspect crashed the stolen vehicle a short distance away and fled on foot,” the news release continued.
The suspect has been described by investigators as a white male who is approximately 16 years old and 130 pounds. Police said he has dark hair and was clean-shaven at the time. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and black pants.
“Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident, particularly one important witness who was operating a dark coloured sport utility vehicle in the area at the time of the incident,” the news release read.
