TORONTO - The case of a teenage girl who prosecutors say used the Internet to pressure her boyfriend into killing a rival is now in the hands of a jury.

Fourteen-year-old Stefanie Rengel was stabbed six times and found lying in the snow outside her parents' house on New Year's Day 2008.

The jury began deliberations today in the first-degree murder case against the 17-year-old girl.

Deliberations will continue Thursday.

Prosecutors allege the teen was driven by jealousy and used instant messaging and sexual blackmail to convince her boyfriend to kill Rengel.

The defence has argued the jury shouldn't draw murderous intent from messages sent over the Internet.

The boyfriend, now 19, faces trial in the fall on a first-degree murder charge.
