TORONTO - The defence at the Stefanie Rengel murder trial is going through dozens of Internet messages in its closing arguments before the jury.

Prosecutors say the 17-year-old girl on trial for first-degree murder used instant messaging to pressure her boyfriend into killing Rengel.

But defence lawyer Marshall Sack is telling jurors they shouldn't assume the Internet messages reflect his client's true intentions.

Sack's closing arguments have entered their second day, after which the case will go to the jury.

Rengel, 14, was stabbed six times on New Year's Day 2008 and was found in the snow outside her parents' home by a neighbour.

The boyfriend, now 19, faces trial in the fall on a first-degree murder charge.
