Departing city councillor and one-time mayoral candidate Karen Stintz has thrown her support behind Christin Carmichael Greb in the Ward 16 race, skipping over a former policy adviser of hers who is also vying for the seat.

Stintz gave her stamp of approval to Greb during a Thursday morning press conference, despite having previously worked alongside rival candidate JP Boutros.

In a message posted to Twitter, Greb said she was “honoured” to have the support of the former TTC chair.

Boutros, meanwhile, told CP24.com that he wasn’t surprised by the endorsement, despite the fact that Stintz has previously promised to stay out of the midtown race.

“I can’t speak to flip-flops. This isn’t about Karen. This is about Christin Carmichael Greb and what she represents,” Boutros said.

The endorsement is the second made by Stintz in recent days. The three-term councillor previously endorsed Jennifer McKelvie in her quest to unseat long-time incumbent Ron Moeser in Ward 44 on Wednesday.
