A woman is in critical condition in hospital following a two-vehicle crash that shut down an intersection in Vaughan overnight.

York Regional Police said a BMW 335i and Acura 3.5 collided at Highway 7 and Centre Street (North Rivermede Road) on Thursday at about 11 p.m.

The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries, police told CP24.

The two male drivers escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed until 4:30 a.m. to allow police to conduct an investigation at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Charges have not been laid.
