TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays placed right-fielder Jose Bautista on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a left knee sprain.

Outfielder Junior Lake had his contract selected from triple-A Buffalo to take Bautista's spot on Toronto's roster.

The 35-year-old Bautista is in the final year of his contract with the Blue Jays.

He's hitting .222 this season with 15 home runs and 48 runs batted in over 80 games.

Bautista missed six weeks with an injury to his left big toe this season and served a one-game suspension after a bench-clearing brawl with the Texas Rangers.

An all-star for six consecutive years -- 2010 to 2015 -- Bautista has 301 career homers, 841 RBIs and a .255 batting average over 13 major league seasons.
