Gridlock Grid

This comparison chart looks at the different ideas mayoral candidates have on battling traffic congestion in Toronto.

DEVELOPMENT -- At its last meeting of the term, city council gave the go-ahead to almost 7,000 new condo units to be built in the downtown core. At that rate, some on council have decried the “Manhattan-ization” of Toronto. While the city’s chief planner has said the developments themselves need not cause alarm, she also warned that the city needs to match the rate of development with new infrastructure like transit. The next mayor will need to make sure that happens or the city could find itself more gridlocked than ever. (Joshua Freeman /CP24)
