A Barrie man is dead after his pickup truck collided with a five-tonne delivery truck in Caledon early Saturday morning.

It happened on Highway 10 near Escarpment Sideroad at around 8 a.m. when for some reason, the southbound pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes.

Ontario Provincial Police said 37-year-old Adam Syrnyk was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the delivery truck was taken to hospital and treated but has since been released.

Highway 10 was closed between Escarpment Sideroad and Charleston Sideroad following the collision. The road reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
